Voyant Advisors, the team behind the development of Forensic Edge, has been publishing short sale research to buy-side clients since 2006. This team has differentiated itself from other short selling services by combining a deep expertise in forensic accounting and working capital analysis with fundamental research, providing clients with unique short sale ideas from a very different analytical approach.
Each of their 500+ short sale ideas were derived from a bottom-up research process that begins with a set of proprietary quantitative screens that have been fine-tuned by the analyst team since 2006. These accounting metrics have proven highly effective at identifying abnormal movements in financial statement accounts and finding areas of risk that often go undetected by traditional investment analysis. This process is the critical starting point for every Voyant short recommendation and are now available to quantitative funds seeking a unique insight into the financial health of publicly traded companies.
Forensic Edge provides these proprietary accounting screens across a universe of 5600 companies in the U.S. and Europe. Each of these metrics has been fine-tuned over fourteen years of real-world use to adjust for idiosyncrasies at the company-level, leveraging the knowledge of an experienced team of former auditors-turned-analysts that understand company fundamentals.
Additional details of the data service:
• Each company record includes up to 13 scores for evaluating risk across revenue sustainability, inventory quality, capitalization risk and earnings quality
• These risk ratings are computed using data extracted from a company's 10Q or 10K filings, so new ratings are provided four times per year for companies reporting quarterly and twice per year for companies reporting semi-annually.
• Our structured, machine-readable dataset consists of 1.2 million data points across four years of historical data.
• We offer a 30-day trial period for backtesting.
